EQUINE HANNA SOMATICS,- A neuroscience based method where the horse 'does the work'.

I am happy and grateful to serve you and your Equine as a Certified Equine Hanna Somatics ® Educator! I offer live Equine Hanna Somatics (EHS) sessions to horses in the Santa Barbara, California area. I also offer virtual ZOOM Sessions for clients who have already purchased the Official Equine Hanna Somatics Intro Video by Allissa Mayer and Eleanor Criswell Hanna. Please use the button below to find the official link to the video.   By using the horse's natural ability to Pandiculate, EHS creates more balance, resulting in the natural Tensegrity of the whole Body (Soma). This approach, is based in physiology and proven science.  Pandiculation involves gently going deeper into a contraction before slowly releasing and de-contracting, thus returning to the neutral resting state.
This deliberate sequence brings the muscle activity into the horse’s motor sensory cortex, which is essential for restoring awareness and control. It helps resolve what's known as motor sensory amnesia,- when the brain forgets it's holding certain muscles in a state of involuntary contraction.

Equine Hanna Somatics: Testimonials

SB Horse Project

"Michele worked her Somatic magic with our rescued 6 year old small Arab gelding, Diego. He was toed out in the hind in a ballerina first position so severe he waddled side to side, and had trouble balancing and moving forward. Clearly Diego was having physical problems and not enjoying being ridden at all. After several months and regular sessions with Michele that's history. Diego’s a much happier horse and so are we. His toes point forward, he has a lovely, light Arab trot and is glad to get in the arena and on the trail. Michele is always communicating with him, and we see a more playful, braver and engaged young horse. Thanks Michele"- Diego, and The Horse Project Santa Barbara
